China Circuit Championship Rd.4 Zhuhai International Circuit
TEIN users come through troubled race
The TEIN supported FRD team took the top two positions in the last round, and they arrived in Zhuhai for the 4th round with high expectations. This 'stop and go' course includes many 90degree turns, so cornering performance will be even more vital. The new front shock absorbers were already set up perfectly in the last round, so only minor adjustments were needed to match the course conditions.
In the qualifying session, the FRD #1 car, Henry Lee set the fastest time to grab pole position! The #3 car qualified in 3rd and the #2 car in 4th position. TEIN users, #7 TSB Accord qualified in 2nd position and the #9 car in 5th position. This meant the top 5 cars on the grid were TEIN users!! Expectations were high for tomorrow's race!

On race day, a typhoon came directly through Zhuhai, and the morning started off in very wet conditions. The FRD #1 car suffered engine problems during the warm up session and the mechanics rushed to replace the engine for the race. Unfortunately they were penalized for the change and started in 10th position. By noon, the raining started to ease up and the 1600cc race started off in dry conditions. But 10minutes in to the race, heavy rain fell and the race suddenly changed back to heavy wet conditions.

With the cars all starting on wet tires, the Peugeot team started to pull away from the field. Trouble struck as the FRD #3 car went off course on the 1st lap. The FRD #1 car lost valuable time when it was forced to make an unexpected pit stop due to a half open bonnet. The #7 TSB Accord drove constantly and held 4th position, while the FRC #2 car followed in 5th. As the race went on, the #2 car picked up the pace and successfully overtook the #7 Accord. It continued hard to chase the car in front, aiming for a podium finish. As the end of the race drew closer, he was able to catch and pass the car in front to grab 3rd position!! With 3 laps remaining, the FRD #2 car was looking good to finish on the podium, when disaster struck, and he unfortunately ended up off the course.

The TSB Accords finished in 5th and 6th overall positions and the FRD #1 car in 10th. The TEIN FRD team will put the past behind them, and now concentrate on the next round in Chengdu.
