China Rally Championship Rd.5 -Shaowu-
Wan Yu Team Celebrate Final Round with Victory!
The final round of the Chinese Rally Championship was held in Shaowu. There was a huge difference in the road conditions from the opening day and day 2. The course for day 1 was made up of a dusty hard tarmac course, but surface condition for day 2 was a flat but soft surface. The courses for both days consisted of short straights and continuous corners.

Because D.Higgins was participating in the final round of the British Rally Championship, Finnish driver J.Miettinen took his place in the Wan Yu team. It was the first time for him in the car and with the Type Gr.N, but TEIN engineers made sure to offer only first-class support to him and the Wan Yu team as usual.

In the Super SS, J.Miettinen set the top time with a 0.2 second lead over the following driver, J.Salo. But J.Salo is not just another rally driver. The 2008 Finnish champion set consecutive top times from SS2 onwards, and finished day 1 in first place with a 30 second lead over second placed J.Miettinen. J.Miettinen had to drive hard during the day to keep his second place and made setting changes to prepare for the next day.
The battle between J.Miettinen and J.Salo continued on through day 2. But dispute J.Miettinen's courageous efforts, the gap between him and J.Salo grew to 1 minute. As the all the teams headed into the final SS, the unexpected happened!! Trouble developed in J.Salo's car!! He was unable to return to the service park, giving the lead to J.Miettinen!
J.Miettinen went on to finish the rally and win the final round of the season!

With the season now come to an end, a big thank you goes out to D.Higgins, F.Nutahara, and to the final round winning J.Miettinen. Thank you for all your efforts throughout the year for the Wan Yu team. TEIN looks forward to continue our support in the 2009 season.
