3^rd Round of 2009 P-WRC (Production Car World Rally Championship) will be held for the first time at Algarve, Portugal from April 2^nd to 5^th. A fierce battle was fought on 18 Special Stages, mostly on gravel covering a total distance of 360km.

 

Thursday, April 2, the opening ceremony and SS1 Super Special Stage was displayed in Algarve Stadium, while a crowd of over 20,000 erupting in excitement. Supported by the crowd, TYPE Gr.N equipped Impreza, driven by P.Flodin placed 3^rd in SS1.

 

DAY1: 6 SS, total distance of 134km. The dust scattered from the car in front affected P.Flodin's performance, but he managed to finish 2^nd with 14.1sec. behind the leader. During SS6, N.Al-Attiyah had to slow down due to machine trouble which cost him extra 20sec. for P.Flodin to pass him, and if it wasn't for the time loss, he would of came out on the top.

 

DAY2: 6 SS, total distance of 145km. P.Flodin showing excellent performance finished 2^nd on SS8, taking the overall lead. He set the fastest time in SS9, and placed 3^rd in SS10. He maintained the lead position and returned to the service area with 11sec. ahead of second place. Many drivers drove off course and were forced to retire, demonstrating the difficulty of the stages. Unfortunately in SS12, P.Flodin spun and rolled his car, damaging the roll cage to a point where restart was disapproved due to the safety regulation, and he had no choice but to retire, which ended his Portugal Rally.

 

In the next round, P.Flodin will be competing in Sardegna, Italy, so stay focused for more action from P.Flodin and the TYPE Gr.N.
