P.Flodin driving his TYPE Gr.N equipped Impreza STI (GRB) dominated and won the first round of the Russian Rally Championship at the end of January, so expectations were high for the Swede, and of course the Uspenskiy Rally Tecnica (URT) team in the second round, Rally Lahdenpohja, held from 6^th - 7^th March in northwestern Russia.

 

P.Flodin was coming off a respectable finish in the opening round of the P-WRC season, and was ready to take on his second challenge in the Russian Rally Championship this year. However, local drivers were favorites for this popular rally and right from the start P.Flodin was feeling the heat.

He struggled a bit at the start and was down over a minute, but he drove hard and made a courageous fight back to take the top position at the end of day 1!

 

Local drivers were not about to give up, and A.Zhigunov was determined to fight back. He started the day 31seconds behind P.Flodin but set the fastest times on the first 3SS to close the gap down to just approx. 11 seconds. But this wasn't enough, as P.Flodin drove hard and consistently through to the end of the rally to take the win! This makes it back-to-back wins for P.Flodin, URT and the TYPE Gr.N in the Russian Rally Championship this season!

 

The 3^rd round of the championship, "Rally Russia" will be held at the beginning of July but before that, P.Flodin and URT start their preparation for the 3^rd round of the P-WRC, "Rallye de Portugal" held at the beginning of April.
