Chinese Touring Car Championships Rd.5 Inner Mongolia
Pole to Finish Victory in both 1600cc and 2000cc Classes!

This round of the CTCC was held in Ordos, in the Inner Mongolian region located in North West China. With other parts of China still experiencing summer conditions, this CTCC round was held deep in the lands where once, the Mongolian great, Genghis Khan treaded. Temperatures ranged from 5 to 20degrees, making it feel completely like a different world.

The 3.7km circuit was located in area still being developed, and this round was held in combination with the mid-autumn vacation period. Tests were expected to be held between the 20th and 21st, however due to a downpour, very rare for this region, brought dirt on to the course canceling the testing sessions. Fine weather blessed the next test sessions on the 22nd but with dirt remains flying behind the cars as they passed, they looked more like rally cars.

A grand ceremonial opening started this round with the 1600cc Class cars up first on the grid. The top grid position went to the #32 Beijing Hyundai i30 car and as the final race got started, he was able to hit hard into the first corner. Numerous cars in the following pack spun, resulting in the #16 Beijing Hyundai Elantra down the order. The Dongfeng Nissan Tiida, Shanghai VW Polo in the middle pack took part in a fierce battle, but it was the #32 Beijing Hyundai i30 which took the overall win!

In the 2000cc Class, the top qualifying #6 Kia Forte car had a bad start. The 2nd and 3rd qualifying Ford Focus #2, 4 cars quickly took advantage. The 4th qualifying #7 Kia Forte car was not about to lose out and moved in on the #2 Ford Focus. As the cars all fell in to place, the #4 Ford Focus was running at the front of the pack.
Behind the top runners, the #10 and #12 Accords were driving head to head and closing in fast. The #2 Ford Focus was given a hefty 80kg handicap after winning the last round and the Accords were getting in position to make their move. The Accords were running so close that they accidently came in contact with the #2 Ford Focus and unfortunately sent him off in to the sand trap.

The safety car had to be called in, but when the race restarted, the #4 Ford Focus was able to keep its top position. The #6 Kia Forte was in 2nd position until he unfortunately spun his car and dropped down the order. The following pack all fought hard, making use of every opportunity they could to gain positions, but this day belonged to the #4 Ford Focus which drove brilliantly from pole position until the checkered flag!

Stay tuned for more action as the next CTCC round will be held in Beijing in the beginning of October.
