Round 4 of the 2010 Super Taikyu series was held at Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture. Conditions were wet for the qualifying sessions as all drivers made their attack runs. In ST3 class, #27 BMW M3 had a blistering run just before the session closed to take the top position away from #51 Fairlady Z qualifying in 2nd position.
As the green lights flashed the start of the race, #27 BMW M3 took off from the line, full of confidence in the tricky wet conditions. There was no stopping him as he pushed hard to extend his lead. The #39 NSX who started from 8th position due to machine trouble during the qualifying session, was making up for lost time flying up the order. He had his sights on the top running #27 BMW M3 and on the 40th lap he made a great move to take the lead!
The #39 NSX continued to show his dominance on the track as he continued to extend his lead over the pack. It looked as though no one was going to catch him until the safety car was called out, instantly undoing all the hard work. As the race restarted, this gave the #27 BMW M3 an opening and he retook the top position! He was able to hold on until the end to take the overall win and second consecutive victory. It was just unlucky for the #39 NSX who had to settle for 2nd position, but this meant a 1-2 finish for TEIN users in ST3 class! |
