Round 7 of the All Japan Dirt Trial Championships, “THUNDERS Dirt Trial” was held at Cosmos Park in Kyoto. Bad weather spoiled last years round, but this year was blessed with fine weather and hard dry road conditions. Cosmos Park is a high speed course, so an intense action packed race was expected.
In N1 class, Kojima and Kawaishi were battling it out for first position. This was a vital round because losing this round meant, possibly losing the championship title. Kojima set good times in the first heat, and trailed Kawaishi by 0.4 seconds. Both went head to head in the second heat, but Kojima was unable to make up the difference and finished in 2nd overall position.
In class N2 Hara, who had already clinched the series championships, showed his dominance by putting up fast and steady times. Others in the class were fighting for the second overall position in the title race and were driving furiously. Hara drove steadily and finished the race in 3rd overall position.
In class SC3, Sumiyama currently lay in second overall position in the driver’s championship, 21points behind the leader. Winning this round was vital for him to keep his chances in the title hunt and set repetitive top times. But rival, Yatagawa, raised the stakes and set the best time and took the round. Sumiyama just missed out on winning the round and finished in 2nd overall position.
With only 1 round left in this year’s All Japan Dirt Trial championships. Look forward to the action from all the TEIN users in the final round. |
