Round 8 of the All Japan Rally Championship was held in Yoshinogari-cho, Kanzaki-gun, Saga prefecture.
The 235.86km course is made up of a combination of low-speed and mid-range corners. The rally drivers could be seen cutting through the intertwining course surrounding the Yoshinogari-cho area filled with historical images from the Yayoi period.
With the series championship on the line, Ishida started the rally well in class JN-4 by setting the fastest time in SS2. He continued to perform strongly and started to run away from his rivals, when suddenly an accident occurred in SS6! Due to turbine troubles, he ended up falling behind the leader by almost 1 minute. With only a limited number stages left in the rally, he came back with force. Unfortunately, it was not enough to make up for his loss and ended up finishing in 3rd overall position.
In JN-2 class, Shinkai took advantage of the semi-wet conditions to keep up with the top cars. With new settings to suit the changing road conditions, Shinkai was able to improve on his position to finish the rally in 3rd overall position.
