This years round 2 was held at Sendai Hi-land, the venue of last years opening round. Because this venue was the second round of the season, the qualifying round started without the usual rain and fog, but instead the weather was pleasant and calm.
During the A drivers session, TEIN user #39 in the ST3 class showed frightening speed to set the top time and qualify first in ST3 class. But as the B drivers session started up, the rain started to fall and except for a small selection of cars, the time attack was completed under wet conditions. But as a result, the #27 car qualified in top position and the #39 in third.
The qualifying round was disrupted by the rain, but fine weather blessed the start of the race. The #27 car took control of the lead from pole position and #333 and #39 followed closely. With a superior pit stop strategy, the #39 car claimed top position! As the race continued, trouble arose just like in the opening round. The lead he had built up depreciated as his machine started to suffer and in the end, he ended up falling down the rankings. On the other hand, TEIN user #113 rose up the field to finish on the podium in 3rd place.
We are all expecting an even better performance for the next round, which will be held at Fuji Speedway. |
