Rd.3 of Civic Inter Series was held here back-to-back at Suzuka Circuit, from Rd.2. While qualifying round started under rainy condition, Matsui was able to place 2nd, and he was eager to give everything he got, since he was forced to retire due to machine failure last round.
It has stopped raining before the final race, but odd numbered grid spot was beginning to dry up while the even side was still wet, which turned against Matsui. Once the race started, Matsui stepped back to 3rd in 1st corner, but soon came back 2nd to chase Tomoaki placing 1st. Gradually, the distance between the two closed in, and Tomoaki unable to keep his line on 130R, allowed Matsui to pass him to take the lead and finish 1st.
By winning this round, Matsui moved up in the standings to place 2nd overall. But he was unable to surpass Kobayashi, the point leader who has constantly earning point every round, so the fierce battle between the TEIN users were to continue. Next round will be the midway point of the season, and more action will be carried on to Fuji Speedway. |
