Rd.2 of 2009 China Touring Car Championship was held between June 27^th and 28^th in Shanghai Tiarma Circuit. TEAM FRD, supported by TEIN increased from the previous 3 entrants to 4, and they are ready go all out this round.

 

During the qualifying round, Car No.10 FRD Focus takes pole position by demonstrating excellent performance, followed by Car No.11 FRD Focus, and then Car No.8 TSB Accord which is also a TEIN user placing 3^rd, to control the race.

 

It has been raining since the day before, but the drivers were blessed by clear skies before the final race. Car No.11 jumps ahead of the crowd and takes first corner, leading the pack, followed by Car No.10 FRD Focus, and Car No.15 FRD Focus staying in 3^rd spot to solidify their lead. Unfortunately, car No.8 TSB Accord was forced to retire due to collision involving with another car.

 

During lap 6, car No.1 HANKOOK Accord, the Rd.1 winner sneaks up to take 4^th position and in lap 7, Car No.10 FRD Focus take on his teammate Car No.11 FRD Focus to take the lead. By lap 13, Car No.1 HANKOOK Accord slides off track which puts him out of the race, but the race proceeds without much change in the positions. The race is now up to 3 FRD Focus which are car No.10; 11; 15, and car No.5 778KIA Cerato.

 

In lap 30, Car No.15 FRD Focus takes on his teammate Car No.11 to take 2^nd place. Furthermore in lap 35, Car No.5 778KIA Cerato takes on Car No.11 FRD Focus which has been losing speed to take 3^rd spot. Car No.10 FRD Focus has been leading the race were to give up his position in lap 37 by his teammate car No.15. Everyone for sure thought the battle for the first place will be fought between these two, but the drama unfolds on the last 38^th lap; Car No.10 FRD Focus suffered from mechanical failure and was forced to retire right before the finish line.

 

The victory went to Car No.15 FRD Focus, which has shown solid performance throughout the race. 2^nd place went to Car No.5 778KIA Cerato, and Car No.11 FRD Focus placing 3^rd to display complete dominance by TEIN users. TEAM FRD has come a long way and finally were able to enjoy the sweet smell of success. Rd.3 will return to Shanghai International Circuit, which will be held between July 25^th and 26^th.
