The second round of the Civic Inter Series was held again at the same venue as the opening round, Suzuka Circuit. During the qualifying session, Taniguchi, who took pole position in the opening round, set a blistering pace to take pole position again. But TEIN users battled hard as Kobayashi, Mizukoshi and Goto followed closely to take 2nd, 3rd and 4th position on the grid. Matsui had trouble yet again finding the right set up for his car and qualified in 7th.
As the lights went green, and the race got under way, it was Kobayashi who had a great start. He managed to overtake Taniguchi going into the first corner to take the lead. Taniguchi, Mizukoshi and Tomoaki closely followed and during the final chicane Tomoaki made a brave move on Mizukoshi but wasn’t able to brake in time and ended up crashing into Taniguchi, sending both drivers down the order.
At the mid-race point, it was Matsui who had all the luck, fighting his way up the field from 7th position to 2nd overall. There was nothing stopping this man as he had Kobayashi lined up in his sights. He saw an opening, made his move and overtook Kobayashi to take the lead just in time for the checkered flag! With Kobayashi and Mizukoshi following behind, TEIN users took a clean sweep of this round to take all podium positions.
In the next round, the Inter Series, East Japan & West Japan Series all come together to battle it out at Twin Ring Motegi, so don’t miss out on the action! |
