The 5^th round of the 2010 Finnish Rally Championship (FRC) was held from 27^th to 28^th August in Kerava in Southern Finland. J.Salo, driving the TYPE Gr.N equipped Lancer Evo.X, entered the rally standing at top of the drivers standings with a 19point lead over his team mate K.Katajamäki.

 

The surface conditions were slippery from the start, and with the 2010 championship on the line, J.Salo did not want to take any risks, and drove steadily from the first stage. Team mate and rival, K.Katajamäki, on the other hand had an unfortunate start as he suffered from car trouble and had to retire during SS1.

 

J.Salo continued to drive consistently throughout the rally to finish 2^nd overall, 9.5 seconds behind the winner M.Kakko in the Super 2000 Fiesta. The 2^nd place finish gave J.Salo and co-driver T.Tuominen 18 points, which was enough to secure the 2010 Finnish Rally Championship!! This win also gave J.Salo an outstanding fifth FRC title to his name! And the TYPE Gr.N its second FRC title!

 

A big congratulation goes to J.Salo, T.Tuominen and the TYPE Gr.N! The team can now feel relaxed as they head in to the final round of the season in Hyvinkää at the end of September.
